Communications Committee

Join us! If you have an interest or skills in communication, we’d love to have you join our team. We have made great strides in reducing the amount of paper sent home by switching to digital media, and we’re always looking for new ideas. In particular, we’re looking for people to help us with our database management and email distribution flow. We would welcome your support – please contact committee chair Jason Thompson to find out more or to join.

About the Communications Committee: Runnymede is a big school. The Communications committee aims to help Runnymede families feel connected to the school. We hope to help make new families feel welcome and to keep all families as informed as we can about the terrific successes our kids and our school accomplish each year.

2011/2012 Plans: Our goal is to continue improving the ways we keep you informed. We plan to use social media as well as our website in engaging ways to continue cutting down on the paper that is sent home. We are exploring other means of community communication, and examining ways we can be more efficient with our database. If you have experience in any of these areas (and even if you don’t!) we’d welcome your help!
The Communications Committee in Action: Check out some of our latest successes!
  • You’re looking at our most recent success! We finished re-designing our website just in time for the 2011/12 school year. We hope you will use this resource frequently over the school year. We’re committed to keeping the site current with regular stories, updates and news about Runnymede, as well as providing a wealth of information about the school, the Council and the Ward. Please visit the website’s calendar for up-to-date information on much that happens within our community.
  • We have a (huge) email mailing list that we use to send targeted emails about issues affecting our school. If you would like to be included in these important messages, please send us an email.
  • This year we are launching a new initiative: a Classroom Email Manager  (CEM) will be dedicated for every classroom to keep parents informed. Watch for more information about this in September.
  • We are advocates for our community. When Council feels it is appropriate, we take action with our elected representatives. Last year we drafted a letter to our Provincial Reprensentatives about the lack of funding for TDSB schools.
