Where Does the Money Go?

For over 20+ years, the “Runnymede Public School Council” charity raised money to allow for as many amazing programs and resource supports as possible to enrich every student’s school experience and most importantly, make school fun!  Starting in 2024 donations are collected by the new Runnymede Home & School Association (HSA) often still referred to as “Parent Council” but we are a separate entity from the School Advisory Council (SAC) – we still work together to organize and create wonderful opportunities for enrichment at Runnymede! Donations are now collected through the required Zeffy platform, which also issues tax receipts! VISIT DONATION PAGE HERE

Here are some examples of how HSA fundraising benefits your child each year:

  • $500 is allocated per class for extra in-class resources and enrichment programs through the Teacher Resource Fund (TRF)
  • In-class workshops taught by professional artists
  • Specialized Green Teacher classes in the Hillside Garden
  • Recess equipment to make outdoor play time more fun
  • In-class hands-on STEM programs
  • In-class STEM teaching resource kits for teachers
  • Support for in-class technology needs, such as laptops, iPads, chargers, etc.
  • Support for Runnymede’s performing arts: band, strings, music, drama, and dance
  • Yard enhancements for outdoor learning
  • Intramural school-wide sports
  • Materials and instruction to create permanent art installations on the Runnymede fence
  • Rainy day lunchroom bins
  • Field trip bursaries

Most of the money that was raised by Fundraising, is from Direct Donation!

In years past, we had many fundraising events, sales and drives however this required lots of parent volunteers hours, and parents felt overwhelmed by too many different fundraising events.  The decision to move to an annual Direct Donation model was made, which means families have the option to contribute once at the beginning of the year.  The larger community events like Movie Nights, Pizza Lunches, Marlies Games, Pub Nights, and Arts Showcase events still happen, but the focus is on fun, and not just the fundraising!
